vii needs advice (crazy ass roommate) >8(
okay, so you know the roommate and her boyfriend who keep stealing my food? yeah.
my roommate 1. says she's missing a bunch of money and thinks either me or my other roommate stole it, and 2. might have stolen my security deposit from my other place.
should i try to move or stay here and try to prosecute and get her evicted?

she says that there was a bunch of money in her room, and now it's gone. it happened last saturday, i thought she'd find it but apparently she hasn't. damn the irony, she steals everyone's shit and then complains about her shit getting stolen. >8( she kept saying she thought either me or my roommate took it. >.>'
so last saturday, she threw a HUGE temper tantrum while i was away. she had thrown things all over her room, one of the windows in her room was broken, there was frozen corn thrown all over the living room floor... yeah. she's a crazy psycho and has problems.
now also, i recently has the security deposit mailed from my last place and i never got it. they people there said they'd mailed it, and i'm worried she might have stolen it. (she is the only one with the key to the mailbox) i'll have to call them on monday, hopefully it's never been cashed and i can get a new check.
now, i've been talking to my stepmom about this, and she thinks that my roommate has stolen my security deposit, has been cheating me on the bills (charging me too much), might have gone in my room and stolen personal info for later use, and is lying about having her money stolen and there was really no money ever and it's just to distract me from my stolen security deposit and all the crap she's doing.
i'm kind of hesitant to listen to her, she tend to be really suspicious of everyone all the time and kind of blows things out of proportion... but my roomie is definitely not honest.
so, here are my options:
1. fight - my stepmom thinks i should prosecute her about the security deposit (she thinks it's DEFINITELY missing). she wants me to lock all my stuff up and stay at my apartment. she also wants me to talk to my other roommate (she's got all her stuff locked up, and i can guess why! >8( ) and we should try to talk to the property manager and police to make her get out of here. my stepmom has talked to the property manager, and my roommate is terrible about paying rent and has almost been evicted, so it shouldn't be too hard to convince them.
unfortunately, i'm horribly passive and i'm not sure if i could do it without chickening out. i HATE having to be around someone who is angry at me and i tend to put up with a ton of shit before finally having enough (which i guess makes me an easy target >.< ). plus, if they didn't steal the security deposit or we can't prove they did, this whole thing falls apart and then i'm stuck with this psycho bitch.
2. flight - try to get ME out of here! i freaking hate living here. i want to go down to the property manager and tell them everything that's going on. i'd see if they would be able to move me into another place with different people at about the same price. if not, i'd see what it would take to break the lease and find somewhere else. i'd probably still see if i could prosecute about the security deposit if they did take it...
just because of my chickenshit personality, i want to do number 2... but my stepmom would be pissed, and it would be a lot of trouble to move. what do you think?
id go with the first option but only if the other roommater is gonna be on your side and is gonna do it as well. also, id call your last place and check on the deposit check, if she has cashed it, they can trace it back to her and then you hasve proof. if she hasnt they can put a trace on it now and catch her when she does try and cash it.
I would recommend picking up the corn. It might be frozen, but when it thaws out it's going to be all squishy and feel gross when you step on it.
Regardless of if you stay or leave, if she really is that crazy, you should at least talk to the landlord and let her know that if she ends up breaking more stuff it's definitely not your fault. You don't want to get stuck paying for stuff she does to the apartment while you're living there.
